Responsibilities

  • Support mission-critical U.S. Navy communications and navigation programs involving the design, integration, testing, deployment and sustainment of complex defense systems.
  • Provide technical leadership and hands-on support for research, engineering development and field operations of command, control, communications and navigation systems.
  • System design, procurement, deployment, administration, user support, cybersecurity compliance and operation of data storage and network infrastructure.
  • Analyze customer, operational and technical requirements and translate them into system-level requirements and specifications.
  • Participate in systems architecture development, interface definition, requirements allocation and trade studies.
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including requirements documents, interface control documents (ICDs), design artifacts, test procedures and technical reports.
  • Coordinate with government stakeholders, program managers, software developers, cybersecurity personnel and test teams to ensure successful program execution.
  • Assist in planning and conducting system integration testing, verification, validation and operational assessments.
  • Support technical reviews including System Requirements Reviews (SRR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), Test Readiness Reviews (TRR) and System Acceptance Reviews (SAR).
  • Evaluate system performance, identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Support cybersecurity, compliance and accreditation activities as required.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, operating procedures and system configuration records.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, security, maintainability and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Must possess a Secret level security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics or a related technical discipline from an accredited college/university and 3+ years of systems engineering experience supporting complex technical programs.
  • Ability to analyze requirements and communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with command and control (C2), communications, combat systems, tactical data links, cybersecurity, networking, cloud technologies or software-intensive systems.
  • Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), SysML, Cameo, Magic Draw or similar tools.
  • Experience supporting test and evaluation activities in laboratory, shipboard or operational environments.
  • Familiarity with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Professional certifications such as INCOSE ASEP/CSE/ESEP, PE, OCSMP OMG SysML.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting DoD, Navy, federal government or defense-contractor environments.
  • Experience supporting research, laboratory, testing or prototype-development environments.
  • Experience with government procurement processes and regulations.
