Systems Engineer
About the role
As a Systems Engineer focused on Implementation at Two Six Technologies, you will work alongside our experienced product team as the tip of the spear, driving technical implementations that safeguard our nation's most critical data. Our team of skilled engineers and developers operates as a collaborative, high-impact unit, maintaining a culture founded on partnership, customer engagement, and delivering solutions alongside data owners and policy makers. In this role, you are an independent strategist influencing the future of data protection and playing a vital part in securing the infrastructure of our nation.
We are looking for a technical expert who excels in high-stakes, onsite engagement with other teams and customers and possesses a deep understanding of the security, access control, and encryption components of customer systems with which we deploy our Zero Trust product. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, where your technical insights and decisions directly shape the deployment strategy. You are the primary bridge between our internal product team and the customer, ensuring that implementation patterns are repeatable, secure, and perfectly aligned with client infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Architect and lead the technical deployment strategy within client environments, taking full ownership of the installation, configuration, and integration phases.
- Drive collaboration between the internal product team and the customer, translating complex technical requirements into successful production realities and ensuring customer feedback informs product evolution.
- Coordinate the integration of identity solutions, ensuring seamless interoperability between the product and existing client authentication systems.
- Design and document repeatable implementation patterns and "Configuration as Code" (CaC) templates to ensure deployments are consistent, scalable, and easily maintainable.
- Navigate complex organizational structures to integrate with multiple teams, troubleshooting technical hurdles across various skillsets and levels to see the product implementation to fruition.
- Work fluently within Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) environments, leveraging Linux expertise to optimize product performance and stability.
- Apply modern DevOps practices to the implementation lifecycle, promoting automation and continuous improvement in the delivery process.
Requirements
- A self-starter who operates with minimal supervision, manages their own deadlines, and takes personal responsibility for the success of the implementation from day one.
- Ability to provide expert technical guidance that carries weight with both internal developers and external stakeholders; your thoughts and technical opinions matter and will drive project outcomes.
- Exceptional ability to work alongside diverse technical teams (Network, Security, SysAdmin) to solve problems and drive progress in challenging onsite environments.
- A drive to move away from "one-off" fixes toward developing repeatable, automated patterns that improve the product's delivery velocity.
- Deep, "under-the-hood" knowledge of Linux operating systems, including performance tuning and security hardening.
- Proven experience deploying and managing resources in cloud or virtualized environments (IaaS).
- Proficiency in using automation tools (such as Ansible or Terraform) to manage application and system configurations (Configuration as Code).
- Working knowledge of CI/CD, version control (Git), and automated testing as they apply to product implementation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in technical implementation, systems engineering, or product development, with a clear track record of successful onsite delivery in complex environments.
- Eligibility for security clearance.
Nice to Haves
- Experience with x509/PKI standards, including certificate authority management, trust chain configuration, and cryptographic troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with LDAP and integrated identity solutions (e.g., SailPoint, Okta, ForgeRock, or custom enterprise stacks).
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- Life and disability insurance.
- Retirement benefits.
- Paid leave.
- Tuition assistance and professional development.
