Systems Engineer

About the Role

The Systems Engineer will help define and drive systems engineering activities and deliverables across Hospital Patient Monitoring (HPM) solutions and systems, focusing on complex distributed software solutions. You’ll collaborate with a cross-functional team to deliver world-leading, cutting-edge Patient Monitoring solutions.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to provide technical and functional expertise across all levels of the requirements hierarchy, including system-of-systems, ensuring consistency and alignment.
• Work with Development, Test, Clinical Engineering, and Risk Management teams to clarify system functionality and ensure shared understanding.
• Perform modeling and analysis of complex systems to define system-level requirements.
• Drive Software FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) for medical device software and solutions involving multiple products.
• Support complex integration efforts of software solutions, both on-premises and cloud-based, medical devices, and IT infrastructure.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in systems architecture/systems engineering, ideally within medical devices or software development (including enterprise-level software).
• Experience with cloud computing, virtualization, networking, and security (e.g., CISSP, CISA).
• Experience in systems modeling and model-based systems engineering; familiarity with patient monitoring systems is a plus.
• Deep understanding of the V-model, with emphasis on the left side, and a strong background in software systems and IT/Network Engineering.
• Proficiency in eliciting both functional and non-functional requirements, and conducting Software FMEA.
• Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), SysML, and modeling tools is a plus.
• Awareness of medical device standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., IEC 62304) is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Systems, or relevant equivalent technical experience (Master’s degree preferred).
• Strong analytical skills, ability to understand dependencies within complex systems, and decompose them into smaller tasks and plans.
• Excellent communication skills and experience aligning diverse stakeholders (internal and external).

Schedule

This is an office-based role requiring full-time presence in the company’s facilities, with in-person work at least 3 days per week.

Pay

The pay range for this position in Cambridge, MA is $114,000 to $182,000. The actual base pay may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may include an annual incentive bonus, sales commission, or long-term incentives.
