Systems Engineer
Job Summary
The Systems Engineer performs work of considerable difficulty in developing and evolving the infrastructure architecture and operational automation at Imagine. This individual will be responsible for enterprise systems management and monitoring platforms, enabling the organization to establish and monitor KPI’s to be adhered to for IT hosting operations. While the Systems Engineer reports to the Director, Infrastructure Engineering & Support, they will be expected to collaborate with others on Infrastructure, End-User Computing (EUC), Information Security and Application Development teams when developing technology solutions. The Systems Engineer is part of a team that is accountable to deliver results and is expected to roll up their sleeves and deliver complex technical work. This person is expected to provide technical mentoring for others in IT and introduce new technologies that better align the business for future growth and ensure best practices for IT operations and security.
Job Requirements
- Collaboratively develop and implement enterprise device management platforms with a goal of achieving corporate SLA’s and security best practices aligning with ISO 27001. The scope of enterprise devices will include servers, workstation/laptops and mobile endpoint devices and should align to support Imagine’s Manufacturing, E-Commerce, and CRM solutions.
- Develop infrastructure standards and best practices that produce predictable, scalable, and cost-effective solutions that support the IT needs of the business. Help communicate clear technology expectations to the Infrastructure Team. Reinforce adherence to standards through positive feedback.
- Continually research technology trends. Develop an understanding of the business and develop a perspective to use technology to build a sustainable competitive advantage.
- Help develop the technology skills of the IT staff by mentoring and providing ad hoc Infrastructure and EUC training. Take an active role in developing members of the Infrastructure Team.
- Participate in domain architecture design and procedural standards and ensure Global Policies for device management are properly configured and adhere to enterprise standardization.
- Ownership of the technical configuration and ongoing compliance of OS and application patching through management platforms, automation tools and associated reporting.
- Develop and maintain systems configuration documentation, and standard operating procedures.
- Automate routine and repetitive tasks utilizing management platforms and tools (PowerShell, Python)
- Install / Configure new applications.
- Be the liaison with the EUC team from a tools and Infrastructure team standpoint, providing support and training on deployment and automation tools as required.
- Oversight of antivirus/malware platforms for protecting all devices and ensure compliance with other management systems.
- Review Azure cloud management and AD topologies and participate in recommendations and implementing management platforms and tools as Imagine begins hybrid integration of on-premises and new cloud technologies.
Minimum Qualifications of Position
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years’ experience building and supporting scalable infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications of Position
- Advanced experience with SAN/NAS storage and backup / recovery
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Windows server technologies (AD, Group Policy, PowerShell)
- Advanced experience with Microsoft endpoint and systems management technologies (SCCM, Intune, MDT)
- Experience with device monitoring and security (monitoring systems, antivirus)
- Experience with OS deployment automation and application packaging.
- Experience with VMware virtualization and Microsoft operating systems.
- Experience with cloud deployed architectures (SaaS, IaaS)

- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, make difficult trade-off decisions, and difficult support decisions while under time pressure.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced team environment, working across multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to learn the business and understand complex business and technical problems.

The national pay range for this role is listed in the job description. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
