Systems Engineer
About the role
We are seeking a motivated Systems Engineer to join a collaborative engineering team focused on developing advanced technology solutions. This role is well suited for candidates with a degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering who are interested in systems design, analysis, and modeling, and who want to contribute to requirements management, data analysis, modeling and simulation, algorithm development, and broader systems engineering activities across the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Support requirements management activities, including capturing, analyzing, and maintaining system requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
- Perform data analysis to evaluate system performance, identify trends, and support engineering decision-making.
- Contribute to modeling and simulation efforts to assess system behavior, validate design concepts, and support trade studies.
- Aid in the development, implementation, and refinement of algorithms to improve system performance and functionality.
- Apply systems engineering principles to support system architecture definition, design analysis, and integration planning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure requirements, models, and simulations align with overall system objectives.
- Participate in reviews and technical discussions to present analysis results, modeling outcomes, and recommendations.
- Support continuous improvement of systems engineering processes, methods, and tools within the team.
- Maintain accurate and organized technical documentation related to requirements, models, simulations, and analyses.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- Experience with MATLAB through academic coursework, internships, co-op programs, or project-based work.
- Knowledge of modeling and simulation principles and their application to engineering systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with complex technical data and models.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2+
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
- Foundational understanding of systems engineering concepts, including requirements, analysis, and system behavior.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment and communicate technical information clearly.
Qualifications
- Internship, co-op, or research experience in an engineering or technical environment.
- Exposure to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies.
- Familiarity with SysML and its use in modeling complex systems.
- Experience or familiarity with requirements management tools such as DOORS.
- Signal processing and applied mathematics relevant to modeling and analysis.
- Interest in systems integration, system test, and specialized systems applications.
- Ability to adapt to multiple business lines and diverse project types within a large engineering organization.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $42.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Work Environment
This position is based on a large engineering-focused campus in Syracuse, New York, where approximately 1,600 people work on site, including more than 700 professionals in engineering. The Systems Engineering organization includes about 180 team members, structured into specialized areas such as Requirements, System Integration, System Test, and Special Systems, and is further organized into roughly 10 groups across five different business lines. The environment offers opportunities to collaborate with diverse engineering teams and to work on a variety of advanced technology projects. The standard work schedule is four 10-hour days per week, with the option to have Fridays off if desired, and work hours are relatively flexible to support work-life balance within a secure, campus-style setting.
