As a Systems Engineer and model-based systems engineering (MSBE) Modeler, you will have the unique opportunity to help evaluate, improve, and modernize IT systems for a major earth science data center responsible for science data vital to understanding the causes of global climate change and the consequences of human activities on the climate. You will have the opportunity to leverage and grow your skills in digital engineering and MSBE and knowledge of earth science data to improve service delivery to worldwide users, including scientists, educators, decision-makers, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Understanding, capturing, and analyzing data center architecture and IT systems to deliver customer-focused engineering solutions.
• Helping evaluate, improve, and modernize IT systems for a major earth science data center responsible for science data vital to understanding the causes of global climate change and the consequences of human activities on the climate.
• Leveraging and growing skills in digital engineering and MSBE and knowledge of earth science data to improve service delivery to worldwide users, including scientists, educators, decision-makers, and the public.
• Assessing relevant space requirements to enable the client’s ability to develop architectures using advanced digital architecture tools.
• Working with subject matter experts and stakeholders to uncover hidden insight.
• Supporting IT solutions from ideation to decommission.
• Supporting informed decision-making related to IT systems and services.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a systems engineer, network engineer, or IT system administrator
• Knowledge of systems engineering principles and IT systems
• Knowledge of IT project lifecycles and project management techniques
• Ability to communicate with organizational leadership, IT administrators, software developers, and systems engineers
• Ability to recommend system improvements to reduce outages
• Ability to develop and maintain digital architecture models and documentation
