Systems Engineer – Algorithms (ONSITE)

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a U.S. government-issued security clearance. An active and existing DoD Secret security clearance is required after day one.

About the Role

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is seeking an Algorithms Systems Engineer to support the Joint Precision Approach and Landing System (JPALS) program. This individual will run and test modeling and simulation of algorithmic models using Simulink and MATLAB. The work is highly technical, requiring comfort with documenting equations, derivations, and generating plots in MATLAB, as well as data and statistical analysis. The role includes both model-based development and lab-based contributions on target products.

The successful candidate must work independently under limited supervision or collaboratively within a team to achieve operational targets, with strong communication and collaboration skills. Over time, the candidate may provide guidance, coaching, and training to other employees.

Responsibilities

• Test algorithms and models for the JPALS program.
• Develop tools to accomplish sufficient testing.
• Work on multiple tasks in a software development environment.
• Conduct analysis for system troubleshooting and performance evaluation.
• Improve code quality through code reviews and adherence to good software practices.
• Perform test and integration tasks in a lab environment on real-world products.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% and perform field-work.

Requirements

• Proficiency in MATLAB, including code optimization and numerical stability.
• Experience with Simulink or equivalent model-based-development tools.
• Experience in systems engineering.
• Ability to read and develop algorithm descriptions, mathematical expressions, derivations, matrix manipulations, outlier analysis, and system-level analysis.
• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience performing complex statistical analysis and/or mathematical modeling.
• Experience with model-driven design using Simulink.
• Experience in data analysis and problem-solving (e.g., anomaly investigation).

Pay

The salary range for this role is $68,900 – $131,100 USD.
