Systems Engineer 3 (Afloat) - Secret Clearance

About the role

The Systems Engineer 3 (Afloat) serves as a Senior Technical Advisor to Carrier Strike Group/Amphibious Ready Group staff N6, supporting ships and staff during installation, testing, and problem isolation of C4ISR systems. The role provides end-to-end technical support for C4ISR, RF, and IT systems, assists with technology insertions, and offers feedback on system performance and design issues. This position requires onsite work in Norfolk, VA, and an active Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Act as a Senior Technical Advisor to Strike Group Staff N6, troubleshoot C4ISR issues, and recommend resolutions for system optimization.
• Collaborate with shipboard technicians, officers, In-Service Engineering Activity (ISEA), Regional Maintenance Centers (RMC), and other stakeholders to ensure end-to-end connectivity for fleet C4ISR requirements.
• Document issues and resolutions using INTELSHARE FSET Status Reports and after-action reports; provide reports to Fleet Readiness Directorate as directed.
• Provide on-the-job training (OJT) for shipboard and shore technicians; mentor civilian/government technicians as required.
• Assist shipboard technicians in preparing systems for inspections and support System Operation and Verification Testing (SOVT).
• Work independently in a high-tempo environment with flexible scheduling, including shipboard deployments of 8-12 weeks and overseas travel.

Requirements

• BS in Information Technology (or equivalent technical degree) or 8+ years of technical experience in a related discipline.
• 6+ years of experience with DoD enterprise or Navy networks; fleet experience highly desired.
• 6+ years of experience troubleshooting networks and operating system issues across multiple systems.
• Active Secret Clearance required.

Skills

• Troubleshoot end-to-end connectivity for IT and RF communications systems involving multiple sites and systems.
• Provide OJT to technical personnel.
• Read, understand, and interpret technical documentation, schematics, SOPs, and other materials related to Navy C4I Systems.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with senior Navy officials and technical personnel.

Qualifications

• IAT2 certification (Security+ CE or equivalent) required for IA.
• IAT2 certification for OS highly desired.
• Windows Server, Cisco, and VMWare training/certifications highly desired.
