Systems Architect, Lead
TSC’s Product Solutions (PS) Division is seeking a Systems Architect, Lead in Huntsville, AL, with expertise in theoretical analysis, requirements generation/decomposition, early product design, interface control, and test planning/execution/data analysis of RF sensors, radar, communication systems, and/or antenna design in the precision weapons domain of DoD/DoW-related programs. The PS Division provides products and services in radar, communication systems, sensors, antennas, and other electronics systems to the missile, radar/sensor system, communications, control systems, data acquisition, and signal processing markets. TSC has developed products ranging from board-level, application-specific designs to complete, turnkey radar and communication systems, and maintains a state-of-the-art hardware capability respected by government and industry customers.
About the role
This position requires technical expertise in the design, test, analysis, and requirements development of RF-based technologies such as proximity, height-of-burst (HOB), unmanned RF payloads, seeker sensors, tactical data links, and radar systems spanning development through manufacturing for missiles, rockets, Electronic Warfare (EW), and/or gun-launched munition platforms. The role involves coordinating with product teams and division leadership to position TSC as the preferred partner for RF-based technologies with current and new customers.
Responsibilities
- Create radar system architectures based on customer requirements
- Track new and upcoming technologies and assess their potential to improve performance or reduce costs for RF systems
- Develop technical presentations and white papers in support of internal hardware development activities
- Support hardware demonstrations, technical discussions, and deliver periodic technical briefs
- Provide technical oversight of proposals, programs, and product lines
- Lead IRAD developments of new technology
- Assist in developing system test documentation aligned with verification of functionality on a production line
- Oversee or lead technical development on all NRE activities by collaborating with multi-discipline teams (systems, hardware, mechanical, software, and firmware engineers) to build complete solutions and products
- Assess industry/government RFIs to determine applicability and/or feasibility of designing or adapting current TSC products to meet requested requirements
Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering and minimum 8-10 years of experience in RF-based design, or
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and minimum of 8 years of experience in DoD/DoW industry
- Strong technical background with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Military/Defense System Development and Delivery
- Radar & Communications
- Digital Signal Processing Systems
- Military/Defense Hardware Production & Quality Control
- Radar & Communication System/Subsystem Design, Analysis, Integration, and/or Field Testing
- Military/Defense Electronics System Manufacturing & Integration
- Demonstrated technical leadership and subject matter expertise
- Excellent organizational and communications skills
- Able to prioritize work and maximize productivity
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET DoD Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with proximity/HOB or seeker fuze technologies in a product development environment
- Experience working with missiles, rockets, or gun-launched munitions utilizing fuze technologies such as proximity and seeker technologies
- Experience designing FMCW and/or pulsed-based radar technologies
- Experience in early concept development through design verification testing
