About the role

The System Architect is accountable for the technical architecture of the ARM application. This role involves designing and validating solutions across an AWS-hosted, Pega-driven stack, defining how services and components integrate, and ensuring the platform maintains performance, scalability, and security. This is a hands-on architecture position where the contractor will produce architecture artifacts, review and guide implementation, and work directly with engineering, QA, and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Design and document the application's system-level architecture across AWS infrastructure, Pega workflows, and supporting .NET/C# services.
  • Define integration points, including APIs, data flows, and event contracts between components and adjacent systems.
  • Produce architecture diagrams, data-flow diagrams, and technical specifications to guide implementation.
  • Apply Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform / OpenTofu) practices.
  • Design for scalability, fault tolerance, and security, including within an event-driven architecture.
  • Partner with engineering, QA, and product/business stakeholders to translate requirements into architectural solutions.
  • Review code and design artifacts from the engineering team against the intended architecture and standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date architecture documentation.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: 5–8 years of overall IT experience, including at least 2–3 years in a system or solutions architecture role.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and supporting complex, cloud-native system architectures.
  • Working expertise in integration patterns, APIs, and microservices/event-driven communication.
  • Technical Skills: AWS, Pega, Postgres, .NET / C#, React, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and/or OpenTofu), Event-Driven Architecture.

  • Background in insurance or financial services processing at scale
  • AI-Enabled Engineering experience
