Systems Architect
Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS), a division of Amphenol Corporation, is a world leader in interconnect solutions for Communications, Mobile, RF, Optics, and Commercial electronics markets. Amphenol Corporation is one of the world’s largest designers and manufacturers of electrical, electronic, and fiber optic connectors and interconnect systems, antennas, sensors, and sensor-based products, and coaxial and high-speed specialty cable. ACS has an expansive global presence in research and development, manufacturing, and sales.
About the role
Amphenol High Speed and Commercial Products Groups are the market leaders for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom and Diverse markets (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We are seeking a Systems Architect to join our team in Valley Green, PA, to steer our connector product roadmap and ensure our solutions match customers’ system-level needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural design and technical strategy for customer solutions involving Amphenol’s high speed backplane connector portfolio (board-to-board, hybrid, and related topologies).
- Serve as the technical face of HSBP for strategic customers, including hyperscale and AI/ML infrastructure accounts, translating system-level requirements (channel budget, SI/PI, mechanical density, thermal) into connector architecture direction.
- Guide the HSBP product roadmap in coordination with SI engineering, mechanical design, and product management, ensuring alignment with emerging standards (IEEE 802.3dj, OIF CEI-112G/224G) and customer next-gen platform timelines.
- Prepare and deliver high-level technical presentations to key stakeholders, including customer executives and internal leadership.
- Provide advanced technical support and rapid response on complex backplane interconnect problems raised by customers or internal teams.
- Devise and communicate differentiation strategy for HSBP products relative to competing backplane connector solutions.
- Partner with other business units (including optics) to ensure a consistent systems-level narrative across Amphenol's full interconnect portfolio.
- Some travel required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering (advanced degree—Master’s or Ph.D.—highly desirable).
- Minimum of 10 years relevant experience working on hardware and interconnect solutions in the IT/Datacom space.
- The role will draw on either your electronic engineering background (signal transmission, EMI/EMC, signal integrity) and/or your mechanical engineering background (materials, tolerance analysis, CAD tools).
Skills
- Ability to effectively communicate across the engineering and managerial functions of a business.
- Strong organizational and presentation skills.
- High-level customer service and ability to build relationships with customers.
- Experience with modeling tools preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
