Systems Administrator, Senior

Your combination of people skills and system administrator expertise makes you the team hero, solving one problem after another. Use your skills to improve the technology supporting the Air Force. As a system administrator on this project, you’ll manage and optimize infrastructure, and be responsible for the architecture, security, and performance of systems and containerized environments. You’ll provide insight into the network through monitoring and performance management, identify problem areas, and turn metrics into actionable information. This role offers the opportunity to broaden your skillset into automation logic, cluster management, workload management, and CI/CD integration. You’ll also share your expertise through leadership and mentoring, helping the team develop new methodologies and modernize the network to support client goals.
Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize Linux-based infrastructure and containerized environments (e.g., Kubernetes).
- Architect, secure, and enhance system performance for mission-critical networks.
- Monitor and analyze network performance, translating metrics into actionable insights for clients and engineers.
- Identify and resolve problem areas, improving network efficiency and capabilities.
- Implement automation (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins).
- Lead and mentor team members, fostering collaboration and innovation.
- Modernize network infrastructure to align with client and warfighter objectives.
- Troubleshoot network issues using tools like ss, tcpdump, traceroute, and ping.
- Conduct performance tuning, kernel patching, debugging, and Linux kernel optimization for container workloads.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in Linux Administration.
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
- Experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes, or Podman) and container orchestration.
- Proficiency with SELinux, FApolicyd, STIG hardening, Identity Management (IdM/LDAP), and managing secrets/certificates.
- Knowledge of IT networking and security concepts (e.g., IP tables, NFTables, DNS, load balancing).
- Ability to translate complex technical requirements into solutions for clients and engineers.
- Active TS/SCI clearance (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a STEM field.
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience administering RHEL systems.
- Experience deploying and managing production Kubernetes clusters (e.g., OpenShift, EKS, RKE).
- Experience with Helm charts, Kustomize, CSI, and CNI.
- Experience integrating IaC and Ansible into pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Knowledge of HAProxy, Nginx, and network namespaces.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a STEM field.
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Linux Foundation Certified Engineer (LFCE) Certification.

Pay
The projected compensation range for this position is $77,500.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD). Salary is determined by factors including location, education, skills, experience, and organizational requirements.

- Remote: Primarily virtual, with occasional in-person work at Booz Allen or customer facilities.
- Hybrid: Frequent work from a Booz Allen facility, with potential customer site visits as needed.

For virtual and hybrid roles, employees are generally expected to have cameras on during meetings to support engagement and communication.
