Systems Administrator III, Inpatient Clinical Documentation, Inpatient Procedure Orders, OPA

Supports the Clinical Care and Patient Engagement Technologies organization as a senior-level subject matter expert responsible for the analysis, design, build configuration, implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of Epic applications with a minimum of 4-5 years of build experience.

About the role

Evaluates complex clinical and business requirements and translates them into scalable, efficient technology solutions that align with organizational goals, Epic best practices, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. Leads and supports large-scale projects, system implementations, upgrades, and optimization initiatives. Identifies opportunities to improve system functionality, operational efficiency, workflow, and the end-user experience while supporting all phases of the application lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, build, testing, implementation, training, optimization, and production support.

Serves as a trusted advisor, providing strategic guidance and technical expertise to ensure stability, scalability, performance, and long-term success of enterprise Epic solutions. Performs in-depth investigation and documentation of future-state operational specifications and application functionality, and develops internal procedures for Epic applications.

Unique challenges include analyzing clinical and business operations, investigating user preferences, prioritizing and implementing system changes, and serving as a liaison between end users, third parties, and Epic implementation staff.

• Assists technical and project team members to resolve system problems and application-specific issues; escalates identified issues, risks, or problems.
• Plans and performs complex system configuration; defines and tests maintenance and refresh activities.
• Participates in the installation, upgrade, or decommissioning of designated systems, products, and infrastructure.
• Assists with application-oriented administration and technical support for production and non-production environments; supports vendor support activities.
• Recommends and executes performance tuning and optimization activities.
• Creates and reviews documentation of new and existing system configuration and procedural information.
• Develops and documents specifications of system enhancements; analyzes functionality in new releases; and tests each new release.
• Supports communications with product users and suppliers to share information, resolve problems, prioritize requirements, and maintain continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Minimum two (2) years experience working with EPIC or comparable health system software OR minimum two (2) years scripting or programming experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Social Science, Education, Business, Health Care, or related field and minimum three (3) years working in IT or operations. Additional equivalent work experience may substitute for the degree requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two (2) years experience in EPIC administration and configuration.
• Two (2) years experience in the administration and custom configuration of large off-the-shelf applications or software packages.

Pay

$99,200 - $128,370 / year. Actual base pay determined at offer will be based on labor market data, internal alignment, and a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
