The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization, Intelligence Systems portfolio, is seeking a DevOps Developer to join our Mission Operations team in Herndon, VA. Our team focuses on delivering complex solutions in some of the most challenging environments on Earth. We provide support for our Mission Operations Portfolio area which design, build, test, deploy, operate, and maintain a wide variety of mission critical platforms and systems for commercial and government customers.
About the Role
The System Administrator will perform system administration tasks, to include infrastructure administration and automation, information security support and configurations, software and OS installation/updates, and follow configuration/change control processes. The System Administrator will create new solutions to solve hard technical problems, and provide system support using best practices with modern and innovative tooling. The System Administrator will support the design, validation and configuration management of computing systems, and monitor system performance to support capacity planning, backup and disaster recovery planning.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and performing regular maintenance tasks such as applying updates, patches, and security fixes
- Aid Network Engineers with configuring and managing network services, such as DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory, to facilitate communication and resource sharing within the network
- Aid with implementing and managing backup strategies to ensure data protection and disaster recovery capabilities in case of system failures or data loss
- Aid with implementing and maintaining security measures, including firewalls, endpoint protection, and access controls, to protect the system from unauthorized access, malware, and other security threats
- Analyze system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to improve overall system efficiency and responsiveness
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps, as well as generate reports on system performance, security, and compliance
- Participate in the planning and implementation of new systems, upgrades, and migrations, ensuring compatibility and adherence to best practices
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, industry trends, and security practices, and continuously improve skills and knowledge
Qualifications
- Required Education and Years of Experience: L3 requires advanced technical education (e.g., Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience. L4 requires advanced technical education (e.g., Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience.
- Required Qualifications: Requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph Clearance (has been active in the past 24 months), U.S. Citizenship, 5+ years' experience in System Administration across Windows and Linux environments, experience managing and maintaining servers, workstations, and related infrastructure components, in-depth knowledge and experience with various versions of Windows and Linux Servers, including installation, configuration, and administration, experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other core services, advanced troubleshooting skills and problem-solving abilities, strong knowledge of security best practices, experience with security auditing, vulnerability assessments, and incident response is also valuable, familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, and/or AHV.
- Desired Qualifications: Expertise in on-premise virtualization (AHV, VMWare ESXi, Hyper-V, etc.) and/or cloud expertise (AWS or Azure), experience with VDI infrastructure, monitoring infrastructure, securing infrastructure, cloud, INFOSEC, and/or any recent IT certifications, telework/remote availability: telework/remote work currently not authorized, work location(s): Herndon, VA.
Pay and Benefits
