Systems Administrator and Security Analyst

We’re looking for a system administrator comfortable installing, configuring, and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems across physical, virtual, and cloud-based environments, as well as applying systems updates, patches, and conducting scans to maintain cyber compliance.

This role will help build, field, and sustain next-gen software solutions for the U.S. military and deploy cyber security solutions leveraged across the Department of War. As a system administrator and cyber analyst, you’ll install, configure, and manage RHEL and Windows operating systems to meet operator needs while ensuring compliance with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NETCOM requirements. You’ll assess and manage system performance, author documentation for configuration changes, procedure updates, and troubleshooting guides, and provide direct client communications to articulate technical challenges, risks, and executable, affordable solutions.

Your expertise will identify problem areas and improvement opportunities in mission-critical networks, turning metrics into actionable insights. Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and manage RHEL and Windows operating systems in physical, virtual, and cloud environments
• Maintain cyber compliance through system updates, patches, and scans
• Assess and manage system performance
• Author documentation for configuration changes, procedure updates, and troubleshooting guides
• Communicate technical challenges, risks, and solution options to clients
• Identify problem areas and opportunities for network improvement
• Translate metrics into actionable information for the team
• Modernize networks to support client goals
• Mentor team members and develop new methodologies

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience with Linux Systems Engineering or Administration
• Experience with RHEL 8 or 9
• Experience in shell scripting and automation
• Experience with monitoring and cybersecurity tools including ACAS Security Center, Evaluate STIG, SCAP, STIG Viewer, or Nessus Scanner
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare, Hypervisor, or KVM
• Experience with containerization including Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes
• Knowledge of system hardening, security best practices, and networking concepts including IPv4, SSH, and firewalls
• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• Active Secret clearance
• HS diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Experience with threat intelligence platforms and incident response frameworks
• Knowledge of changes in RHEL 10
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent certification

Pay

Salary is determined by various factors, including location, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, contract-specific affordability, and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $77,600.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD).

Schedule

This role may be remote, hybrid, or onsite:

• Remote: Primarily virtual, with occasional in-person work at a Booz Allen or customer facility.
• Hybrid: Frequent work from a Booz Allen facility, with potential visits to customer sites as needed.
• Onsite: Work primarily performed at a Booz Allen office or customer facility, collaborating directly with colleagues and customers.

Employees working virtually are generally expected to have their cameras on during meetings to support engagement and effective communication.
