About the role
The System Specialist serves as the primary diagnostic engine for our Network Operations Center (NOC), ensuring our infrastructure remains resilient and mission-ready. They independently diagnose and resolve complex, cross-domain alerts, partner with Technical Support teammates, and proactively identify and address cross-domain anomalies.
Responsibilities
- Autonomous Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex network connectivity and identity access issues across multiple IT layers.
- Environmental Triage & Escalation: Gather necessary telemetry and logs to escalate issues to capability teams when they exceed the frontline scope.
- Runbook Execution & Maintenance: Safely execute automated scripts and remediation playbooks to resolve known issues and update documentation as needed.
- Advanced Observability: Monitor network health using DataDog and Splunk, and correlate raw logs to track down undocumented anomalies.
- CLI Operations: Use Linux command line and Windows PowerShell for system configurations, service restarts, and script execution.
- Identity Management: Troubleshoot and manage user access issues in Active Directory and Okta, ensuring sync statuses and group policy enforcement.
- Toil Reduction: Look for ways to eliminate manual work, document fixes, and propose process improvements.
- High-Stakes Execution: Provide clear, concise diagnostic updates during mission-critical outages, maintaining composure and systematic problem-solving.
Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in a NOC, IT Operations, or hybrid Systems Support role.
- Cross-Domain Instincts: Ability to troubleshoot across multiple IT layers including Windows/Linux OS, Cisco routing/switching, and Identity/Access.
- Observability Tools: Proven experience viewing, querying, and extracting actionable data from enterprise monitoring stacks like Splunk and DataDog.
- Networking & Linux: Strong practical experience navigating Cisco switch configurations via CLI and comfort in a Linux command-line environment.
- Identity Systems: Demonstrated experience troubleshooting access and sync issues in Active Directory and Okta.
- U.S. Citizenship and DoD NIPR network account/CAC clearance required.
Qualifications
- CompTIA Security+, CCNA, or intermediate Linux certifications preferred.
- Experience supporting OT/ICS environments or working within DoD/Air Force spaces preferred.
- Basic scripting abilities (Bash, PowerShell, Python) used for operational tasks.
