KBR’s National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to customers in the intelligence and national security communities. In this position, your work will have a profound impact on protecting our national security. As the prime contractor on the MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) contract, you will join the MSEIT Systems Engineering team to help define the next generation of space communication systems supporting US Space Force Military Satellite Communications.

About the role

You will support Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) activities in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment, interfacing with SE&I team members, contractors, government civilians, and members of the USSF. You may lead and support working groups responsible for technical discussions, resolving and identifying risks and requirements gaps, developing briefings, writing and tracking action items, and authoring meeting minutes. The MSEIT effort provides leading-edge SE&I for the Space Force’s Space Systems Center (SSC), supporting the acquisition of state-of-the-art Military Satellite Communications systems that provide global secure, survivable, and protected communications for warfighters.

Responsibilities

  • Support the MSEIT System Safety Government Team by evaluating ESOH risks identified by the government, contractors, or other stakeholders, preparing ESOH documents, and providing system safety support for Space Flight Worthiness certification.
  • Document, perform, and execute changes to Government System Safety documents.
  • Review and participate in government evaluations of contractor documentation related to hazard analyses, mitigation strategies, and safety assessments, as well as advise the government team.
  • Perform safety risk assessments in accordance with MSEIT Program and Space Force guidance documents and prepare safety risk assessments for acceptance or further mitigation.
  • Prepare documents including but not limited to: Programmatic Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Evaluation (PESHE), Space Debris Assessment Report/End of Life Plan (SDAR/EOLP) for space vehicles, and Environmental Analysis for ground systems.
  • Prepare and support the System Safety elements of the space vehicle Space Flight Worthiness certification.
  • Collaborate with prime contractors, other support contractors, government civilians, and members of the U.S. Space Force.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 4+ years’ experience in systems engineering.
  • 1+ years’ experience in Systems Safety engineering, including System Safety Engineering practices, techniques, and procedures, and working with System Safety military standards and regulations.
  • Ability to coordinate with numerous stakeholders and customers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to enable working and interfacing with diverse personnel in a dynamic team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, such as engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science.
  • Certifications in Systems Engineering (INCOSE ESEP, CSEP).
  • Knowledge and experience in Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with MILSATCOM, such as AEHF, EPS, WGS, PTES, PTS, and FAB-T terminal programs.
  • Experience working with military and DoD civilian clients.
  • Experience and familiarity working on a government space systems program.
  • Experience working on a Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) contract.
  • Active Secret Clearance or higher.

Work Environment

  • Location: Onsite in El Segundo, CA.
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal.
  • Working Hours: Standard.

Pay

Basic compensation: $113,100 - $141,300. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
