About the Role

An engineer in the System Safety Engineering group will contribute to a wide variety of projects based on business needs. The role involves working as an independent contributor with team leadership to perform Systems Safety Engineering tasks in support of project objectives.

The engineer will join a team of experienced safety and specialty engineers working on various missile launching system programs. Responsibilities include contributing to analysis and design support efforts for all aspects of system safety programs, ensuring safety is integrated into the hardware and software of these products. The engineer will be guided by senior safety engineers familiar with the product line and will work on tasks such as requirements analysis, interface analysis, operations analysis, and system safety test and verification. This role offers opportunities to grow skills in System Safety Engineering and to improve and evolve the system safety process and methodology.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Systems Safety Engineering tasks in support of project objectives.
  • Contribute to analysis and design support for system safety programs on missile launching systems.
  • Conduct requirements analysis, interface analysis, and operations analysis.
  • Support system safety test and verification efforts.
  • Work with senior safety engineers to ensure safety is integrated into hardware and software design.
  • Improve and evolve the System Safety process and methodology.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with design of computer programs, control systems, and integration and test of system and subsystem components.
  • Ability to utilize system safety processes and analysis.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance (Secret level).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Desired Skills

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to work with complex systems.
  • Interest in weapon system development, radar development, or electrical hardware design.
  • Experience with systems engineering processes, including top-down design from high-level system requirements through allocation of system components and equipment.
  • Interest in Requirements and Model-Based Engineering tools (e.g., DOORS, CAMEO).
  • Interest in software development tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevSecOps).
  • Interest in safety standards (e.g., MIL-STD-882, OSHA, NAS-411).
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.

Pay

The base range for this position in New Jersey is $75,000 - $135,961.

Schedule

  • This position follows a 4x10 schedule: 4 days of 10 hours, with 3 days off per week.
  • Part-time remote telework: The selected employee will work part of their schedule remotely and part at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
