About the Role
The System Engineer III handles the highest levels of support problems, projects, and assignments. This role serves as the Subject Matter Expert for technologies and infrastructure within WMC Data Centers, including Servers, Cloud and other Storage Systems, Databases, and related technologies. The System Engineer III partners with WMC Security teams to apply, maintain, and oversee elevated protection against cyber, criminal, and physical threats. They proactively and reactively ensure operational oversight, measure utilization and performance, and respond to emergent needs or problems to maintain full operational status for the hospital and community.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, support, and lead the team on all basic and advanced (Tier III) levels of technical and operational support for WMC Data Centers and infrastructure, including Servers, Databases, Cloud, and other Data Storage systems.
- Perform advanced computer hardware installations and decommission enterprise equipment, including servers, peripheral equipment, databases, and storage systems.
- Ensure the Data Center and all-encompassing technologies are protected against cyber, criminal, and physical threats.
- Handle routine and complex equipment/system configurations following hospital-approved protocols and standards.
- Troubleshoot advanced issues and repair equipment under their purview to support WMC hospital operations.
- Provide support to other IT teams for system availability and end-user needs.
- Participate in project implementation assignments and expand infrastructure for both incremental and large-scale projects.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other WMC departments and IT teams for site and infrastructure readiness and problem resolution.
- Assist senior team members with advanced technical problems, projects, and problem-solving.
- Execute routine projects independently and work with managers on planning and executing larger local projects.
- Perform asset management duties as defined by WMC.
- Adhere to all WMC security protocols and standards.
- Serve as Team Leader, as needed, to provide continuity of service.
Requirements
- 6 years of experience supporting information systems and/or in system engineering.
- Experience in healthcare technology support, including Server, Database, Cloud-based, and other Storage systems.
- Experience with device management/integration (preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, science, or a related field (required).
- Master’s degree (preferred).
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Data Center operations and infrastructure, computer technologies including Servers, Databases, Cloud, and other storage devices.
- Ability to work well with medical professionals and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Proficiency in computer applications such as spreadsheets, MS Outlook, calendar, email, and database software.
- Strong judgment, initiative, accuracy, and thoroughness.
- Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
