About the role
The District's technology landscape encompasses databases, VMware, SAN Storage, on-premises, and SCADA enterprise applications, including Aveva Plant SCADA, Dream Reports, Central Historian, and and/or other HMI/PLC applications.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and support for the District's infrastructure systems, ensuring optimal performance and, as needed, configuration.
- Patch and upgrade systems.
- Manage infrastructure landscapes.
- Monitor, identify, and escalate system performance and capacity issues.
- Conduct preventive hardware and software maintenance.
- Maintain accurate documentation of existing and planned systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve common problems with assigned applications and databases.
- Install, integrate, customize, configure, and standardize software and hardware.
- Assist with Backup/Recovery Administration and Disaster Recovery Support.
- Prepare scheduled and ad hoc statistical and narrative reports.
- Provide support for SCADA administration, Wonder Central Historian and HMI Applications PLC application.
- Participate in the systems' availability and execute service restoration activities.
- Address alarms and outages for multiple systems and applications.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience, and an Associate's Degree as indicated above, with project management in the following:
- Experience in SCADA system administration, including HMI applications, Central Historian platforms, Aveva Plant SCADA applications, Dream Reports, and PLC firmware (Operational Technology).
- Experience in Windows systems administration, Windows server and workstation, application administration, Microsoft Office, and data center operations.
- Active Directory administration, group policy, patching, endpoint protection, application hardening, backup/recovery, and audit logging (IT/OT Infrastructure).
- Cybersecurity alignment includes: system hardening, patch management, account management, logging/monitoring, and secure configuration of OT Linux hosts.
- Secure SCADA architecture, role-based access, network segmentation, change management, alarm integrity, and coordination with cybersecurity and network teams.
- Database Focus (OT/IT Systems): Experience with database concepts, SQL analytics and queries, backup and recovery strategies, and database administration.
Qualifications
- Education Required - Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; plus five (5) years of related work experience as indicated below.
- or Required - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; plus three (3) years of related work experience as indicated below.
- or Required - Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; plus one (1) year of related work experience as indicated below.
Skills
- Knowledge of infrastructure components, including Windows server, AD, Group policy management, vMware, Anti-Virus, switches and/or Firewalls.
- Knowledge in one or more core business functional areas, or hands-on involvement in HMI software, Familiarity but not limited to PLC configuration knowledge.
- Strong interest in database administration with a proactive attitude towards learning and professional growth.
- Ability to actively listen, comprehend, and proficiently document business user needs.
- Ability to learn new or upgraded computer software as required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Collaborative team player with a proven ability to work effectively towards common objectives.
- Efficient organizational and prioritization skills, managing multiple tasks and requests to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with personal computers, tablets, and/or other electronic devices, including familiarity with, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word), and enterprise-wide software (e.g., SAP).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in English, to professionally assist internal and external customers, co-workers, and management, regardless of provocation.
