About the role

The Optical Metrology Division of KLA is seeking a Lead Applications and Systems Engineer to integrate capacitance gauging technology into KLA's metrology and process control systems. This role requires expertise in capacitance sensing to solve positioning problems in highly precise measurement and process control tools for the semiconductor industry.

Responsibilities

  • System Integration, Validation, Troubleshooting, Calibration, Manufacturing Support, Documentation, and Internal/External Technical Support
  • Closely work with system, mechanical, software, manufacturing, applications, and sales teams to ensure robust product performance throughout the product lifecycle
  • Apply capacitance sensor and gauge technologies to precision machine control and metrology problems
  • Provide technical support to external customers, applications engineers, and sales teams, including application feasibility assessments and issue resolution
  • Collaborate with key customers as the primary point of contact

Required Technical Skills

  • Electrical & Systems Knowledge: Strong system-level engineering skills with the ability to analyze and support complex electrical systems
  • Sensors & Control Experience: Knowledge of capacitance gauge or capacitive sensor systems, electro-mechanical control systems and precision motion systems, sensor calibration and performance characterization
  • Software & Data Acquisition: LabVIEW experience for diagnostics, calibration, and test utilities, familiarity with NI DAQ hardware, experience interfacing with sensors and controllers using SPI, I²C, and UART
  • Debug & Lab Skills: Strong troubleshooting skills to the component level, proficient use of oscilloscopes, DVMs, and standard lab instruments

Education & Experience

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Physics with 8+ years of relevant experience OR MS in Electrical Engineering or Physics with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in precision instrumentation, sensors, semiconductor equipment, or advanced electromechanical systems is strongly preferred

Personal Attributes

  • Hands-on, detail-oriented engineer with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communicator capable of working across engineering, manufacturing, applications, and sales teams

Benefits

  • Base Pay Range: $150,500.00 - $255,900.00 Annually
