About the role

The Server Hardware Engineering team at Amazon Web Services (AWS) creates compute and storage server designs for Amazon’s web services. Our engineers work with leading-edge technologies, solve challenging problems, influence the industry’s roadmaps, and develop new and unique solutions that are ahead of the pack. Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the design and development of server products utilizing a wide range of design and manufacturing partners.
  • Collaborate with people across AWS to help deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
  • Work closely with our customers to understand their technical needs and business goals, architecting solutions that meet their requirements.
  • Work with an interdisciplinary team of component, firmware, test, qualification, and integration engineers to bring these servers to the data center.
  • Oversee the fleet of servers after launch, monitoring their quality and how they meet customer requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 5+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
  • Bachelor's degree or above in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience with general troubleshooting/debugging of hardware, or experience in debugging, profiling, and implementing software engineering best practices in large-scale systems

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience with test plan development, building the necessary test bench infrastructure, developing tests and verifying the design
  • 5+ years of systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement experience

Skills

  • Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology

Pay

Base salary range for this position is $129,200.00 - $174,800.00 USD annually.
