Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Configures and maintains the networked computer system, including hardware, system software, and applications
- Ensures data is stored securely and backed up regularly
- Diagnoses and resolves hardware, software, networking, and system issues when they arise
- Replaces and upgrades defective or outdated components when necessary
- Maintains system performance to ensure everything runs smoothly and securely
- Researches and recommends new approaches to improve the network computer system
- Provides technical support when requested
- Determines and documents any processes which employees need to follow in order to successfully work within our computing system
- Responds in a timely manner to user-reported errors
- Protects the database against threats or unauthorized access
- Ensures that the database is adequately backed up and able to be recovered in the event of memory loss
- Reports on metrics regarding usage and performance
- Collaborates with IT project managers and database programmers
- Designs databases with both front-end and back-end users in mind
- Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
Minimum Qualifications
- Combination of education and experience equivalent to bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
- Four (4) years of experience in system administration or database administration AND Microsoft applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Network+ certification
- Security+ certification
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) with specializations in Windows Server, SQL Server, and Server Virtualization
