Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced System Architect to lead the end-to-end system design of a new mobile robot platform. This role is responsible for defining the overall architecture across hardware, firmware, software, networking, and cloud integration to deliver a scalable, reliable, and manufacturable robotic system. The ideal candidate will bridge product vision and technical execution, guiding cross-functional teams from concept through production and lifecycle support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the system-level architecture for a next-generation mobile robot platform, including compute, sensors, power, communications, and software stack.

  • Define requirements, interfaces, and performance budgets (power, compute, latency, thermal, safety).

  • Lead architectural decisions and trade studies across mechanical, electrical, firmware, autonomy, and cloud systems.

  • Establish and maintain system documentation, including architecture diagrams, interface control documents (ICDs), and design specifications.

  • Ensure alignment with functional safety, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements.

  • Guide technology selection for sensors, compute platforms, middleware, networking, and OTA updates.

  • Support prototype development, validation, and transition to manufacturing.

  • Mentor engineers and act as the primary technical authority for system-level decisions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

  • 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or architecture, with direct experience in mobile robotics or autonomous systems.

  • Proven experience designing multi-disciplinary systems combining hardware, embedded software, and higher-level software.

  • Strong understanding of mobile robot architectures, embedded Linux, sensors, and networking.

  • Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience bringing robotic products from concept to production.

  • Familiarity with ROS, ROS 2, DDS, and modern autonomy stacks.

  • Experience with Nvidia platforms.

  • Knowledge of functional safety, reliability engineering, and design for manufacturability.
