System Administrator, Linux

Nakupuna Solutions is seeking a Linux System Administrator to ensure the availability, performance, and security of computer systems and networks. This role involves managing GovCloud environments, standalone systems, and connections to external networks such as NIPRNET, SIPRNET, DREN, JWICS, and NSA.

Responsibilities

• Install and configure Linux environments and systems, including back-end processes and scripts, ensuring compliance with C5ISR policies and procedures across networks (DREN, NIPRnet, SIPRnet, JWICS, laboratory networks).
• Monitor system performance and availability, implement security measures, and review logs to identify issues.
• Administer, refactor, and architect cloud computing aspects in Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure, including building and maintaining registered applications.
• Maintain system documentation, conduct upgrades, and apply patches.
• Configure and maintain storage systems.
• Support registered application development environments: set up new servers, configure services, decommission legacy servers, and troubleshoot as needed.
• Coordinate with the local Network Enterprise Center (NEC) for ticket requests related to virtual machine creation, performance issues, hardware resource allocation, and POAs/waivers/exceptions.
• Align managed systems with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG)/Security Requirements Guides (SRG) and applicable cybersecurity guidance.
• Provide VMware ESXi server administration: create/update VM templates, build new servers, and manage resource allocation.
• Coordinate with DREN Network Operations Center (NOC) to troubleshoot connectivity issues and network configuration changes.
• Support ACAS scans, IA vulnerability alerts, McAfee ESS, and server compliance, including remediating findings and applying patches.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or a related field.
• Required certification: Security+ CE.
• Desired certifications (not required): SecurityX, CASP+, CCNP Security, CISA, FITSP-O, GICSP, SSCP, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), CompTIA Server+, VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
• 5+ years of system administration experience.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance required.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.

Pay

The projected compensation range for this position is $125,000 to $160,000 (annualized USD). Salary is determined by education, experience, skills, and organizational requirements.
