Job Description

The Laboratory Technician I receives sufficient authority from and is accountable to the Laboratory Manager or Team Lead for the successful completion of assigned duties and responsibilities. This position has the authority to take action necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position and to identify the occurrence of departures from the quality system or from the procedures for performing tests and/or calibrations, so long as such action does not deviate from established company guidelines, is consistent with sound technical and business judgment, and follows the practices of the laboratory.

Overall Objectives and Responsibilities

  • Works and communicates effectively with team members.
  • Is dependable and on time.
  • Maintains consistent quality and efficiency in all assigned work processes.
  • Keeps equipment and work environment clean and organized, ready for use.
  • Applies adequate laboratory techniques after training.
  • Understands and follows documents relevant to responsibilities, e.g., Work Instructions, Checklists, Batch Records, and Logs.
  • Maintains accurate production records according to requirements and in compliance with Established Quality System standards.
  • Follows all company safety and regulatory policies, including handling hazardous materials and wearing of proper PPE (personal protective equipment) that are relative to assigned work.
  • Is prepared to work overtime during shifts other than the one assigned or weekends if requested.
  • Completes successfully applicable on-site training programs in a timely manner.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to perform under pressure of a fast-paced production environment.
  • Proven ability to work well with a team with little supervision.
  • Annual RCRA awareness training preferred.
  • Previous experience working in an ISO-9000 or cGMP environment preferred.
  • Previous experience working with general laboratory equipment preferred.
  • Microsoft Windows and Excel proficiency preferred.
  • Previous experience working with Hazardous Chemicals preferred.
  • Ability to lift 35+ pounds preferred.

Additional Information

  • Schedule: Regular: Tuesday-Saturday 7:00am-3:30pm
  • Training: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm
