The Opportunity
Prospect Schools is seeking a founding year Middle School Teacher. Prospect teachers are grounded in an equity-driven approach following the principles of the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, where instruction emphasizes academic rigor, critical thinking, global mindedness, and inclusive classroom practices. As an educator at Prospect, you will be part of a collaborative and high-performing instructional team and will report directly to a member of the school leadership team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and deliver culturally responsive, engaging lessons that support learning in an intentionally diverse classroom and actively engage a variety of different learning styles.
- Utilize data, strong content knowledge, and effective pedagogy to plan clear, objective-driven instruction to advance learning for all students.
- Collaborate with co-teachers and instructional leaders through coaching, professional development, and, when applicable, advisory groups to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers on modifying and differentiating lesson activities and assessments for individual groups of learners for various subjects.
- Track progress and create strategic plans and interventions to help students with disabilities and all students achieve individual learning goals.
- Serve as a case manager to a small group of students by monitoring progress, communicating with families, and writing IEPs.

Staff Collaboration
- Embody a “Team First” mindset by collaborating across grade level and content teams, participating in professional development, and partnering with the broader school community.
- Demonstrate a commitment to giving and receiving feedback for the purpose of continuous personal growth and betterment of the teaching and learning team.
Caregiver Partnership
- Build strong partnerships with caregivers through consistent communication and regular updates on student progress.
- Use caregiver feedback to continuously improve instruction and the overall learning experience.
- Coordinate and facilitate family meetings as needed and attend any/all school-wide caregiver events.
About You
- You have earned a Bachelor's Degree.
- You have prior teaching experience.
- You are in the process of earning or have earned a New York Teaching License Certification.
Pay
The salary range for this role starts at $63,960, then increases based on years of experience. STEM teaching roles are eligible for a sign on bonus. Our salaries are set through a lens of equity, and based on an individual’s skills, education, and years of experience relevant to the role.
