About the role

Responsibilities

• Teach 5 sections (may include inclusion English, intervention)
• Support ELA teachers by providing accommodation and/or modification to the curriculum for students eligible for special education.
• Work to ensure the rights of students with disabilities to be full participants in the general curriculum.
• Implement state and federal laws and regulations as they apply to special education.
• Participate in the development of and oversee implementation of IEPs for students eligible for special education.
• Create and provide lesson plans and instructional materials to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
• Implement common assessments that measure progress towards academic standards.
• Use data from formative and summative assessments to inform instruction.
• Meet weekly with a grade-level content team and an interdisciplinary cohort.
• Participate in biweekly instructional coaching sessions to improve instructional practices.
• Act as advisor to a group of 8-15 students.
• Communicate weekly with students and families around academic and behavioral progress.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
• Appropriate Massachusetts DESE licensure required, including a passing score on the Communication and Literacy - Skills test and a passing score on the relevant subject matter knowledge test(s).
• A minimum of two years teaching experience in a school setting serving a similar demographic preferred, but not required.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Pay

In accordance with the Lawrence Teachers' Union. ($61,788 - $94,614)
