About the role
The Social Studies Teacher will serve 6th-12th Grade students at Georgia Fugees Academy Charter School (GFACS), a mission-driven school that provides educational support to refugee and immigrant youth. Reporting to the School Leader, this is a 10-month, exempt position.
Responsibilities
- Teach social studies classes with a wide range of lesson presentation techniques to adapt activities for different learning styles and levels of language proficiency.
- Able to build a trauma-informed connection to facilitate learning.
- Classroom management skills that emphasize mutual respect and positive reinforcement.
- Outstanding instructional skills, including the ability to motivate and challenge students.
- Recognize and teach lagging skills that are necessary for student growth.
- Helping students develop an intrinsic motivation to learn.

Essential Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching high school level social studies, preferably in an urban setting.
- A minimum of an undergraduate degree.
- Georgia Teaching Certification.
- Demonstrated ability to create and maintain a warm, yet strict and orderly classroom environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in the subject area and demonstrated student achievement results.
- Citizenship, residency, or a work VISA in the United States is required.
