The Opportunity
Prospect Schools is seeking a Founding Middle School Science & Math (STEM) Learning Specialist to support our Windsor Terrace campus in its founding year, 2026-27.
About the Role
Prospect Schools is a high-performing, intentionally diverse K-12 college preparatory charter network serving nearly 3,000 students across seven schools in Brooklyn. We are a growing organization and expanding our network across Brooklyn from 6 to 9 schools in the coming academic year. Prospect Schools models its curriculum on the renowned International Baccalaureate Program, a rigorous program that raises the level of academic responsibility for students while preparing them to be global citizens. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Planning and Instruction
- Design and deliver culturally responsive, engaging lessons that support learning in an intentionally diverse classroom and actively engage a variety of different learning styles.
- Utilize data, strong content knowledge, and effective pedagogy to plan clear, objective-driven instruction to advance learning for all students.
- Collaborate with co-teachers and instructional leaders through coaching, professional development, and, when applicable, advisory groups to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth.
- Design and deliver culturally responsive, engaging lessons that support learning in an intentionally diverse classroom and actively engage a variety of different learning styles.
- Classroom Environment
- Set clear expectations and consistent routines to create a purposeful, warm, and supportive learning environment.
- Build a culturally sustaining classroom community where all students feel known, safe, valued, and respected by adults and peers.
- Staff Collaboration
- Embody a “Team First” mindset by collaborating across grade level and content teams, participating in professional development, and partnering with the broader school community.
- Demonstrate a commitment to giving and receiving feedback for the purpose of continuous personal growth and betterment of the teaching and learning team.
- Caregiver Partnership
- Build strong partnerships with caregivers through consistent communication and regular updates on student progress.
- Use caregiver feedback to continuously improve instruction and the overall learning experience.
- Coordinate and facilitate family meetings as needed and attend any/all school wide caregiver events.
Qualifications
- You have earned a Bachelors Degree.
- You have prior teaching experience.
- You are in the process of earning or have earned a New York Teaching License Certification.
