Principal Accountabilities

• Remain up to date regarding curriculum content.
• Educate students on the curriculum and adjust instruction, materials, or assessments as needed.
• Manage the classroom environment effectively.
• Instruct students clearly, using appropriate techniques and technologies.
• Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement.
• Promote equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning.
• Collaborate with Special Education and English Language Learner specialists.
• Prepare students for MCAS.
• Maintain data and documentation as appropriate.
• Participate in school-wide professional development and seek feedback and coaching.
• Affirm equal educational opportunity for all individuals.

Qualifications

• Required Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher; Advanced Placement Certification; valid Massachusetts Teaching License in Biology, 8-12; valid Massachusetts SEI Endorsement or appropriate ESL License; fully licensed and Highly Qualified.
• Experience: Urban, high-poverty, or turnaround schools; major/minor in specific teaching content area; additional certifications in Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities and/or English Language Learners (ESL); demonstrated experience in ELD and SEI strategies; bilingual language proficiency (Spanish/English) preferred.
