The Diverse Learners Teacher position at CPS is dedicated to providing a high-quality public education for every child, preparing them for success in college, career, and civic life. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) aligned with state guidelines
  • Collaborate with case managers, counselors, and general education teachers to address the unique needs of diverse learners
  • Design and deliver engaging, challenging lessons that cater to the diverse abilities and backgrounds of students
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment
  • Communicate regularly with families about their children's progress and needs
  • Utilize technology and supplementary materials to enhance learning experiences
  • Advocate for equitable educational opportunities and support students with special needs

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • A valid teaching license from the Illinois State Board of Education, with appropriate endorsements
  • Able to establish a respectful and inclusive classroom culture
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize student safety and implement the Student Code of Conduct

Qualifications

  • Completion of the CPS online application and teaching profile
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with curriculum supplements and technology resources
  • Commitment to CPS’ common themes of equity, cultural competence, high expectations, developmental appropriateness, and student responsibility
