The Opportunity
Prospect Schools is seeking a Middle School Humanities Teacher to design engaging, inclusive lessons that cultivate students' critical thinking, analytical reading and writing, and a lifelong appreciation for history and diverse perspectives. This position is located at our Sunset Yards Middle School.

Prospect Schools is a high-performing, intentionally diverse K-12 college preparatory charter network serving nearly 3,000 students across seven schools in Brooklyn. We are a growing organization and expanding our network across Brooklyn from 6 to 9 schools in the coming academic year. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and deliver culturally responsive, engaging lessons that support learning in an intentionally diverse classroom and actively engage a variety of different learning styles
- Utilize data, strong content knowledge, and effective pedagogy to plan clear, objective-driven instruction to advance learning for all students
- Collaborate with co-teachers and instructional leaders through coaching, professional development, and, when applicable, advisory groups to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth
- Create a purposeful, warm, and supportive learning environment by setting clear expectations and consistent routines
- Build a culturally sustaining classroom community where all students feel known, safe, valued, and respected by adults and peers
- Collaborate across grade level and content teams, participate in professional development, and partner with the broader school community
- Demonstrate a commitment to giving and receiving feedback for the purpose of continuous personal growth and betterment of the teaching and learning team
- Build strong partnerships with caregivers through consistent communication and regular updates on student progress
- Coordinate and facilitate family meetings as needed and attend any/all school wide caregiver events
Requirements
- Earned a Bachelors Degree
- Prior teaching experience
- In the process of earning or have earned a New York Teaching License Certification
Qualifications
- Strong content knowledge in Middle School Humanities
- Experience with the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team
- Ability to create a culturally responsive and inclusive classroom environment

Pay
The salary range for this role starts at $63,960, then increases based on years of experience. Our salaries are set through a lens of equity, and based on an individual’s skills, education, and years of experience relevant to the role.
