About the role

The SEZP Counselor (Clinician) plays a crucial role in supporting students' academic, social, and emotional growth through the implementation of SEL curriculums, providing counseling services, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the middle and high school SEL curriculums
  • Understand and coordinate continuum of mental health services
  • Counsel individuals and small groups of students
  • Consult with and train teachers, parents, and staff
  • Refer students and families to appropriate levels of care
  • Collaborate with other counselors and staff
  • Participate in STAT process and counseling program planning
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional license
  • Attend work on schedule and maintain a professional demeanor

Qualifications

  • Certification as a School Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor or Guidance Counselor by the Massachusetts Department of Education
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field preferred; Bachelor's Degree required
  • Effective problem-solving and communication skills
  • Experience working with students and families, community health, and social service agencies
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of intellectual, social, and emotional development theories
  • Familiarity with mental health and emotional impairments, substance abuse, and violence prevention
  • Experience with crisis management and intervention
  • Knowledge of medical conditions and medication related to physical disabilities and learning disorders
