Job Summary

Aids students with various needs including behavioral, medical, and/or mobility issues. Assists in accessing the instructional program and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

Essential Functions

  • Records and reports academic, behavioral, and health information.
  • Supports students in using instructional materials and equipment.
  • Provides feedback to teachers on student progress.
  • Adapts activities and materials for students with disabilities.
  • Attends IEP and Service Plan meetings.
  • Maintains class routines and transitions.
  • Guides students in developing social skills.
  • Monitors and assists students in educational and community settings.
  • Assists with daily living skills and medical needs.
  • Administers first aid and CPR as needed.
  • Serves as a resource for substitute teachers.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Understanding of students' educational challenges and disabilities.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to work with diverse students.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with students and staff.
  • Knowledge of instructional materials and assistive technology.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.

Minimum Acceptable Training And Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Pass the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Highly Qualified test.

Qualifications

  • Valid certificates for First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.

Skills

  • Effective communication.
  • Behavior modification techniques.
  • Use of assistive technology.
  • Handling medical and mobility needs.
