Job Summary
Aids students with various needs including behavioral, medical, and/or mobility issues. Assists in accessing the instructional program and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Essential Functions
- Records and reports academic, behavioral, and health information.
- Supports students in using instructional materials and equipment.
- Provides feedback to teachers on student progress.
- Adapts activities and materials for students with disabilities.
- Attends IEP and Service Plan meetings.
- Maintains class routines and transitions.
- Guides students in developing social skills.
- Monitors and assists students in educational and community settings.
- Assists with daily living skills and medical needs.
- Administers first aid and CPR as needed.
- Serves as a resource for substitute teachers.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Understanding of students' educational challenges and disabilities.
- Professional demeanor and ability to work with diverse students.
- Ability to communicate and interact with students and staff.
- Knowledge of instructional materials and assistive technology.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
Minimum Acceptable Training And Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Pass the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Highly Qualified test.
Qualifications
- Valid certificates for First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
Skills
