As a Middle School Special Education Teacher, you will report to the Principal and collaborate with a diverse School Leadership Team to uphold high academic standards while addressing the social-emotional needs of all students. Our programs are designed with students' personal interests and learning styles in mind, serving a community where 89% of families are Hispanic or Latinx.

Responsibilities

• Implement interactive, hands-on, and creative learning methods
• Use technology to support instruction across all areas
• Utilize assessment data to drive instruction
• Differentiate curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners
• Apply co-teaching and ELL strategies
• Engage in restorative practices and trauma-informed approaches
• Incorporate anti-racism education and culturally responsive pedagogy
• Build strong relationships with students in both academic and non-instructional settings
• Accept and implement feedback to improve instruction

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a relevant content area
• Valid New York State Teaching Certification (or willingness to enroll in a certification program and obtain certification within two years)
• Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy
• Strong communication, planning, and relationship-building skills
• Commitment to anti-racism, culturally responsive pedagogy, and restorative practices

Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
