Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted, high-quality instruction to support English Language Learners in mastering their command of the English language by building their proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Collaborate with a diverse and committed School Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure high academic standards while focusing on the social-emotional needs of all students.
  • Implement current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, including explicit language instruction, scaffolding, and differentiation for diverse proficiency levels.
  • Use technology to support instruction in all areas and use assessment to drive instruction.
  • Differentiate curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners and integrate seamlessly into content classrooms while maintaining a focus on language development.
  • Strategically think about solutions and communicate effectively to plan and implement initiatives that strengthen student growth at every stage of their PreK–12 education.
  • Build relationships with students, respect and encourage their effort, and teach and coach them in both academic and non-instructional situations.
  • Be familiar with restorative practices, anti-racism education, culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Reflect on your practice and accept and implement feedback to improve instruction.

Requirements

  • A graduate of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or relevant content area.
  • A current possessor of a valid New York State ENL Teaching Certification or willing to enroll in a New York State Teaching Certification Program and obtain such Certification within two years.

Pay

Salary range based on New York State Certifications, years of experience, and education level certified teachers salary ranges from $68,500 - $124,061 and uncertified teachers salary ranges from $65,500 - $121,061.
