Swing Shift Production Supervisor 4:30 pm to 3:00 am

About the role

The Swing Shift Production Supervisor oversees daily operations and personnel within the Production department. This role ensures all safety, quality, and operational standards are upheld and that production goals are consistently met. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, lead by example, and foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional teamwork. The Supervisor will train, provide performance feedback, and drive process improvements while maintaining a strong floor presence to resolve issues, remove obstacles, and support a safe and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct all employees and production activities within assigned area.
• Ensure compliance with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations, policies, and procedures; promote a safety-first culture by modeling safe behaviors and holding team members accountable to safety expectations.
• Maintain working knowledge of production processes, equipment operation, and quality requirements.
• Ensure established production goals are met while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
• Monitor and evaluate individual and team performance; provide coaching, feedback, and corrective action when necessary.
• Complete daily production reports and ensure operational data is accurately recorded and communicated.
• Partner with internal teams (quality, maintenance, engineering, planning) to ensure smooth flow of work, material availability, and issue resolution.
• Provide on-the-job training and cross-training to build skill depth and bench strength within the team.
• Proactively identify and eliminate bottlenecks or inefficiencies; implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure production paperwork is accurate and aligned with customer requirements.
• Participate in quality audits and lead corrective action efforts when deviations are identified.
• Promote housekeeping standards and ensure work areas are clean, organized, and safe.
• Support compliance with company policies and procedures at all times.
• Serve as a leader and resource on the floor by maintaining visibility, approachability, and consistent communication.
• Maintain flexibility to support production needs across multiple lines or shifts as required.
• Comply with all OSHA and company safety policies, procedures, and requirements.
• Report unsafe conditions or practices to supervision to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards.
• Attend scheduled safety training and actively support the organization’s safety goals and plans.
• Recommend improved safety practices and follow general safety procedures such as proper lifting, ergonomics, and use of personal protection equipment (PPE).
• Ensure lockout procedures are followed during equipment cleaning or maintenance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in business, operations, or technical field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong working knowledge of production processes, equipment operation, safety standards, and quality systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and hold teams accountable to performance and safety expectations.
• Continuous improvement mindset.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with ERP or production tracking systems a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including documentation and reporting.
• Proven ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and achieving department goals.
• Ability to interpret production metrics and drive performance through clear goals and feedback.
• Must be able to work onsite daily.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Regular use of a computer and standard office equipment.
• Job is performed under occasional temperature variations and in a manufacturing production environment.
• Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company safety policies.
• Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
• Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and frequent fine finger dexterity.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks over a 10–12-hour period.
• Frequently required to sit, talk, or hear; occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Work is performed onsite in an office environment within a manufacturing facility.
