Swim Instructors

As an employee of the Miles Nadal JCC, the Swim Instructor will report to the Aquatics Manager and Lesson Coordinators.

About the role

Swim Instructors provide high-quality swimming lessons to participants of all ages and abilities in both group and private settings, covering all levels of the Red Cross Swim Program. They ensure a safe, enjoyable, and inclusive environment while helping swimmers achieve their goals.

Responsibilities

• Teach the Red Cross Swim Program to both private and group classes.
• Ensure the safety of all swimmers throughout the class.
• Perform water rescues and first aid when necessary.
• Provide feedback to members on participant progress when requested.
• Complete timely individual progress reports at the end of each session.
• Prepare and submit accident and incident reports as needed.
• Develop lesson plans for swim classes instructed.

Requirements

• Current Lifesaving Swim Instructor, Bronze Cross, Standard First Aid, and CPR-C certifications (required for the duration of employment).
• NL, Lifesaving Instructor, or Examiner certification (an asset).
• Legal authorization to work in Canada.
• Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check as a condition of employment.
• Full vaccination against COVID-19 (or valid accommodation) required for in-person work.

Schedule

Must be available to work weekends and/or weekdays and commit to full sessions.

Pay

Starting at $18.00/hour, based on experience and qualifications.
