Swim Instructor (Part-Time)

About the role

We are seeking year round Swim Instructors to join our amazing Aquatics Team at Greendale Family Branch YMCA. Typical hours vary – weekdays, daytime, evenings, and weekends, with a preference for daytime and evening weekday availability.

Responsibilities

• Teach skill and technique to a vast array of ages
• Maintain a safe, friendly pool environment for our members

Job Requirements

• Be at least 16 years old
• Swim 300 yards, continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing
• Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both, but swimming on the back or side is not allowed
• Swim goggles may be used
• Tread water for 2 minutes, using only the legs
• Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds which involves starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Surface dive, feet-first or headfirst, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object. Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back carrying the object with their face at or near the surface so they are able to get a breath and exit the water without using a ladder or steps
• Hold Swim Instructor certification or willing to earn swim instruction certification
