Swim Instructor Flexible Mornings Weeknights and Weekends

About the role

Instruct students on water safety and proper swim techniques based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum. This is a non-exempt position reporting to the Deck Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Provides swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
• Enforces safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents.
• Makes rescues and administers first aid when necessary.
• Evaluates students’ progress and completes required paperwork in a timely manner.
• Interacts with parents/guardians on the activities and development of students’ swim skills.
• Acts as a Goldfish Swim School “ambassador” to ensure parental satisfaction.
• Uses problem solving and creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter.
• Inspects pool areas before and after each class for possible maintenance, cleanliness, or damage issues and reports issues to management.
• Maintains and ensures proper storage of all pool equipment, including placing and removing lane lines.
• Reports accidents and incidents to management and completes required documentation.
• Performs Deck Teacher duties as needed.
• Performs light cleaning duties such as window washing, deck mopping, and trash removal on occasion.
• Attends required/mandatory workshops and in-service training outside of regular working hours.
• Fulfills other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Employer.

Requirements

• Ability to work with children.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
• Must pass background examinations (included with training).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is not required; hiring ages 14+.
• Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, and/or childcare provider preferred.
• Two or more years as a swimming instructor encouraged but not required.

Certificates and Licenses

• Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certification required (provided as part of training).

Work Environment

While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate.

Schedule

Employees must work a minimum of 2 shifts, one of which must be on a weekend.

• Monday: Closed
• Tuesday: 3:50pm – 8:00pm
• Wednesday: 8:50am – 12:30pm | 3:50pm – 8:00pm
• Thursday: 8:50am – 12:30pm | 3:50pm – 8:00pm
• Friday: Closed
• Saturday/Sunday: 8:50am – 12:30pm | potentially 12:30pm – 4:00pm
