Swim Instructor

About the role

We’re hiring year-round, part-time swim instructors with leadership opportunities available within your first 3–6 months. This role is ideal for students or individuals looking for extra hours without late nights. Weekday lessons end at 8:00 pm, and there are no Saturday or Sunday nights.

You will instruct students on water safety and proper swim techniques based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum. After each 30-minute lesson, you’ll communicate progress and celebrate accomplishments with parents and caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Provide swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum
• Educate students on safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents
• Evaluate students’ progress and complete required paperwork in a timely manner
• Interact with parents/guardians on the activities and development of students’ swim skills
• Use problem-solving and creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges students encounter
• Maintain and ensure proper storage of all pool equipment; place and remove lane lines and class materials before/after lessons
• Perform light cleaning duties such as window washing, deck mopping, and trash removal on occasion
• Attend occasional mandatory workshops and in-service training outside of regular working hours
• Fulfill other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your employer

Requirements

• Ability to work with children
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to complete lifeguard, CPR, and AED certification class as part of training and work scheduled shifts as a lifeguard
• Ability to perform job functions in a warm, humid setting and chlorinated pool (lifting, standing for extended periods, demonstrating curriculum skills, and performing in-water rescues if necessary)
• Tolerate moderate noise levels
