About the role
Join our team as a Swim Instructor and lead dynamic aquatic programs for youth and adults. You'll plan and organize lessons, teach skills, evaluate abilities, and provide feedback.
Responsibilities
- Plan and organize swimming, water safety, and aquatic exercise classes
- Teach skills using a facility-approved curriculum
- Evaluate swimming abilities and track progress
- Communicate with patrons and parents about goals, achievements, and areas for improvement
- Coordinate equipment and collaborate with staff to ensure smooth program delivery
- Maintain accurate records and provide constructive feedback
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year related work experience
- Valid Oregon Driver's License at time of hire
- CPR/First Aid within 30 days of hire
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of supplies, materials, equipment, and basic rules involved in aquatics programs
- Experience in water safety instruction or aquatic fitness
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to assess and motivate swimmers of all ages
Skills
- Use of swim instructional aids, personal computers, various related software programs, standard office equipment, and swimming pool equipment
- Time management, analytical, organization, and prioritization skills
- Customer service orientation and skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, and strong oral and written communications skills with a variety of audiences
- Reasoning, analysis, and problem-solving skills, combined with excellent judgment and professionalism
