About the role
At Goldfish Swim School, we care about providing top-notch swim lessons and making every moment Golden. We offer part-time hours, a set weekly schedule, and a growth track to build your skills and achievements. You can grow with Goldfish even if this is your after-school or second job. We’re looking for someone who fits our core values—you don’t need experience teaching or as a lifeguard (but you do need to know how to swim). Most importantly, you need a passion for helping others and a fin-tastic personality.
Responsibilities
- Prepare class materials and review lesson themes to set yourself and your team up for success.
- Teach swim lessons following a well-established and proven curriculum of water safety, swim, and swim-play skills for 4 swimmers per class (6 swimmers in infant, parent-and-me style lessons). Each lesson lasts 30 minutes and is followed consecutively for a 4-hour shift.
- Communicate progress and celebrate accomplishments with parents and caregivers at the end of class.
- Lifeguard and supervise lessons as requested or needed.
- Guide new swimmers through their first days at Goldfish and support their progression from mini and junior swimmers to gliders and pros.
Requirements
- Availability for set groups of lessons (no half-shifts or mid-shifts available). Instructors are scheduled based on set lesson times:
- 9:00–12:00 and 4:00–8:00 Monday through Friday
- 8:30–3:30 on Saturday
- 8:30–3:30 on Sunday
- Arrive 15 minutes before swim lessons start to set up and participate in the pre-shift meeting.
- Ability to work the same part-time scheduled days every week (e.g., every Monday from 4:00–8:00).
- Patience and a genuine approach—every swimmer learns at their own pace and in their own way.
- Strong communication skills to work with children, parents, and team members.
- Commitment to quality work and representing Goldfish Swim School’s mission to change lives and make a difference every day.
- Ability to act with integrity, compassion, and trust in all interactions.
Skills
- No prior teaching or lifeguarding experience required, but you must know how to swim.
