Aquatic Certification
- Water Safety Instructor
- Aquatics Facility Manager
- Certified Pool Operator
- CPR First Aid
- LGI (Lifeguard Instructor), preferred

Experience
- Aquatic teaching experience.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Swim Director is ultimately responsible for assessing the aquatic needs of the school system and the general community to determine the most effective utilization and programs to address the varying needs. This position ensures efficient and effective communication in the setting of the overall direction of the facility.
Performance Responsibilities
- Schedules all recreational, instructional, and competitive activities.
- Ensures proper training and monitoring of lifeguards and instructor staff.
- Schedules lifeguards/instructor staff.
- Makes sure staff have valid and current certifications.
- Makes sure Board of Health regulations are followed.
- Plans and conducts in-service training for lifeguards and instructors.
- Schedules community recreational swims.
- Schedules and supervises American Red Cross certified swim lessons to community.
- Enforces facility rules, regulations and policies.
- Purchases equipment and teaching aids for swim lesson program.
- Works in conjunction with maintenance staff to:
- Ensure pool chemicals are regulated
- Ensure natatorium is in safe operating condition
- Aid in changing underwater lighting
- Ensure chemicals are delivered and stored properly
- Aid in keeping swimming locker/team rooms clean and sanitized
- Aid in keeping natatorium clean and properly sanitized
- Aid in submitting weekly water sample to Board of Health
