Sweeper/ Substitute - Elementary

Job Description

The Custodian – Sweeper provides limited custodial services at the assigned site, ensuring an attractive, sanitary and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. The role includes a variety of cleaning operations and assists in preparing facilities for classroom activities and campus events.

Essential Functions

• Assists with site snow removal to ensure access and safety for students, staff, and visitors.
• Cleans assigned facilities and/or grounds (e.g., classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, grounds) to maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment.
• Prepares the site for daily operations (e.g., opening gates, raising flags, sweeping walkways) to ensure facilities are operational and hazard‑free.
• Replenishes classroom and restroom supplies (e.g., paper towels, soap) to ensure adequate quantities for daily use.
• Secures facilities and grounds (e.g., doors, gates, alarms, lights) to minimize property damage, equipment loss, and potential liability.
• Supports other site maintenance staff (e.g., grounds, trades) to complete site custodial activities.
• Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Requirements

• Age 14 or older.

Pay

$13.71 – $16.82 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Schedule

3.0 hours per day, as needed.
