About the Role
The Swamper position assists in hydro excavation processes, including excavating, loading, digging, or breaking rocks, debris, dirt, and other materials. Responsibilities include tank cleaning, jetting tank bottoms, and working in confined spaces. A valid driver’s license is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Assist Hydrovac drivers with excavation tasks.
- Clean and jet tank bottoms.
- Work in confined spaces as required.
- Assist in setting up and inspecting grounding/bonding procedures for Hydrovac operations.
- Maintain equipment in excellent condition and report repairs immediately.
- Support vehicle upkeep, including cleanliness, tools, and fuel/water levels.
- Ensure next-shift readiness by organizing the cab and preparing connections.
- Maximize productivity in the shop and field by cleaning, prepping, and reducing idle time.
- Complete required paperwork, including work orders and safety documentation.
- Clock in/out accurately and report missed punches to supervisors.
Expectations
- Attendance: Consistent attendance is required; last-minute callouts, no call/no-shows, tardiness, or unscheduled PTO may result in disciplinary action.
- Professionalism: Maintain good hygiene, grooming, and respectful communication (verbal, written, electronic).
- Safety:
- Zero-tolerance workplace: Positive drug/alcohol screens result in immediate termination.
- Complete all required safety training on time.
- Wear issued PPE as required by tasks and customer standards.
- Report all accidents, incidents, or near-misses immediately.
- Coachability: Demonstrate initiative to learn all aspects of the role, ask questions, take notes, and apply feedback.
