About the role
As a Software Engineer at Forvia Electronics (FCE), you will bring strong technical development expertise and software engineering skills to design, develop, and deliver enterprise-class engineering solutions for sustainable mobility technologies.
Responsibilities
- Develop, prove, and document embedded software products and solutions, and support their design.
- Review and provide effort estimates for team tasks.
- Decompose team tasks into specific work items for development periods.
- Assess risk and priority, balancing tasks to ensure team success.
- Enable team members through clear communication, peer reviews, brainstorming, and coverage during absences or interruptions.
- Mentor software developers, engineers, and interns.
- Review code and unit tests of other team members.
- Provide product definition and high-level design support for team software products.
- Decompose high-level business requirements into component business requirements for development.
- Foster teamwork among software, hardware, mechanical, and quality assurance disciplines.
- Travel to customer engineering centers and minimal overseas travel for collaboration and training.
- Adhere to Forvia’s Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a software engineering discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the automotive industry, preferably in electronics/software, or 3 years as a Software Engineer.
- Experience decomposing business requirements into functional specifications, design documentation, and use cases, including support documentation.
- Experience with AI-assisted development and code generation (e.g., Codex, Claude Code).
- Familiarity with state-of-the-art techniques for embedded systems development.
- Familiarity with automotive safety and cybersecurity requirements (e.g., ISO 26262, ISO 21434).
- Familiarity with in-vehicle communication bus protocols (e.g., AUTOSAR, CAN, Ethernet, LVDS) and related tools (e.g., CANalyzer, CANoe, CANdela).

- Ability to maintain architectural consistency with existing software products and design patterns.
- Understanding of embedded device programming.
