About the role
Responsible for the identification and development of new commercial banking business, specifically targeting the middle market segment. Actively engages in the sales process to ensure the attainment of goals and objectives; contributes to the profitability and growth of the bank by prospecting and developing new client relationships. Maintains and applies a thorough understanding of the bank’s credit policy, client eligibility, and all necessary business practices while performing duties in accordance with company policies, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Engage the marketplace and originate new business credit and deposit relationships for businesses with annual revenue between $25MM to $500MM.
- Actively prospect and develop new relationships directly with businesses, their owners, advisors, investment bankers, accountants, and other centers of influence (COI) who can refer high-quality opportunities.
- Source, identify, and prequalify lending opportunities; work directly with Relationship Managers to present approved credit solutions to prospects.
- Source, identify, and prequalify business deposit opportunities; collaborate with partners to assemble complete new account proposals and drive success in booking commercial deposit opportunities.
- Source, identify, and prequalify fee income opportunities including treasury management, foreign exchange, merchant services, and corporate/business credit cards; engage partners to assess needs and present solutions.
- Maintain a continuous direct calling prospecting, referral, and sales pipeline to grow revenue.
- Act as a strong partner to other lines of business in uncovering and referring opportunities within the bank, including Business Finance, Venture Banking, Specialty Banking, and Community Banking.
- Work with Relationship Managers to provide consultative financial advice to prospects and identify and sell appropriate bank products and services.
- Structure credits jointly with Relationship Managers and Underwriters to meet the bank’s risk management appetite and the prospects' needs.
- Understand basic underwriting procedures for traditional commercial bank lending to appropriately advise prospects and encourage realistic expectations.
- Respond in a timely and accurate manner to banking and lending inquiries from prospects and internal partners.
- Follow all established policies and procedures; perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (business-related field preferred).
- Ten (10) or more years of financial services experience, including at least 5 years of business-to-business consultative sales experience (financial services preferred), or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Successful completion of bank credit training.
- Proven success in building relationships and attaining sales goals.
- Previous experience with commercial banking loan underwriting, credit origination, or processing preferred.

Pay
The base salary ultimately offered is determined through a review of education, industry experience, training, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant in alignment with market data and other factors.
