SVP Corporate Counsel

About the role

World Business Lenders (WBL) is a privately held portfolio lender specializing in real estate-secured business loans for underserved businesses. WBL operates with a fully remote, multinational workforce and an experienced executive leadership team. Typically, the work schedule is from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, though additional hours may be required based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Delivers practical legal advice that supports business objectives while managing legal and regulatory risk
• Maintains strong corporate governance and compliance across the organization
• Negotiates and manages contracts and transactions efficiently and accurately
• Pairs effectively with business leaders to resolve legal issues and support strategic initiatives
• Protects the company's interests through proactive risk management and sound legal judgment

Requirements

• Education: JD from an accredited law school. Active bar membership in good standing in any U.S. state or the District of Columbia
• Experience: 6-10 years of legal experience required, law firm experience required, combined in-house counsel experience preferred
• Skills: Strong legal research, drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills; exceptional project management, organizational, and communication skills; excellent business judgment and practical problem-solving abilities; ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment; experience supporting financial services, lending, or regulated business environments preferred

Benefits

• Cash compensation includes a base salary of $125,000-$150,000, plus incentive compensation eligibility (equity and deferred cash bonus), based on level and company policy
